Basic Training
Operators of fork lift trucks are required to have undertaken and passed a course of Basic Training as described in ACOP L117 of the Health and Safety Commissions Approved Code of Practice.
This course provides individuals with the knowledge and practical skills to safely operate a fork lift truck and to undertake the appropriate operator tests.
This course can be conducted on the customer’s site or at our Training Centre and covers the following subjects:
- The Reasons for Training and Statutory Requirements
- Health and Safety Laws and legislation
- Preventing Accidents in the Workplace with Fork Lift Trucks
- Counterbalance Principles of Fork Lift Trucks
- Fork Lift Truck Rated Capacity
- How to Refuel Various types of Fork Lift Truck
- Pre-Use Inspection Checks
- The Principles Vehicle Loading/Un-Loading
- Fork Lift Truck Safety Rules
The practical side of the training course is designed to provide the trainees with the practical skills that are required to operate a fork lift truck in a safe and efficient manner. On completion of the training course the operator will be required to undertake and pass the following tests:
- Pre-Use Inspection Check
- Theory written Test
- Practical Skills Test to meet a required Standard
When the trainee meets the required standard they will be issued a nationally recognised ITSSAR fork lift operator’s certificate and photo license.
